Fast Search & Transfer (FAST) is a Norwegian company, operating globally with presences in the US, Japan and many European countries. FAST develops real-time high-speed search and filter technology systems. Some of the world’s best known companies with the most demanding search problems use FAST’s powerful enterprise search technology solutions.

In this booklet, FAST introduces their new network technologies. A needle-in-the-haystack metaphor is used to talk about searching databases and the Internet. Short after publishing the booklet, FAST was acquired by Microsoft.
